The DAAD is currently accepting applications for the 2025/2026 Development-Related Postgraduate Courses Scholarships. These scholarships aim to train specialists from developing and newly industrialized countries to contribute to the sustainable development of their nations.

Scholarship Details

  • Open to foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized countries across all disciplines.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years of professional experience.
  • Scholarship covers postgraduate or Master’s degree at a German university, and in some cases, a doctoral degree.
  • Includes coverage for university qualification in Germany.

Requirements

  • Graduates with at least two years of professional experience from eligible countries.
  • Applicants must be working for a public authority, state, or private company in a developing country involved in development policies.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Academic degrees should not be more than six years old.
  • Applicants residing in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline are not eligible.

Language Skills

  • For courses in German: Pass the language examination DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before starting the program.
  • Minimum German language level B1 at the time of application.
  • For English courses: IELTS (Band 6) or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, 80 internet-based).

Funding Details

  • Duration: 12 to 42 months depending on the program.
  • Monthly stipend of 934 euros for graduates or 1,300 euros for doctoral candidates.
  • Includes insurance cover for health, accidents, and personal liability.
  • Travel allowance provided unless covered by home country or another funding source.

Selection Criteria

  • Candidates must meet academic requirements and show a commitment to development-related work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with two years of professional experience.
  • Expected to take on social responsibility and support processes of change in their personal and professional environment.
