8,285 students take computer-based WASSCE

After initially facing resistance, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced its plans to conduct the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates using a computer-based model in Nigeria.

Examination Schedule and Format

According to Dangut, the CB-WASSCE is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, January 31, and conclude on Saturday, February 17, 2025, with candidates being tested in 19 subjects encompassing 26 papers in a hybrid mode. The hybrid mode involves rendering Objective or Multiple Choice questions on-screen, requiring candidates to respond digitally. Essay and Practical questions will also be presented on-screen, but responses will be recorded using provided answer booklets.

WAEC announced that a total of 8,285 candidates had registered for the examination, with 3,949 being male (47.66%) and 4,336 female (52.3%) from across the federation.
