About the Cybersecurity Scholarship

According to research from Cybersecurity Ventures, the sheer number of jobs open in the world of cybersecurity expanded greatly from 2013 to 2021, with an estimated 3.5 million vacancies still existing right now.

With estimates forecasting that these and possibly more roles will continue to remain vacant come 2025, Ingressive4Good has collaborated with Cisco establishment so as to educate youths on the continent and advance study in cyber security fields by leading them into promising careers in this industry.

What is Cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity is a broad term for the measures taken to protect computer systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks. This includes protecting against a variety of threats such as malware, phishing, ransomware, hacking, and other cyber-attacks.

Cybersecurity measures can include the implementation of firewalls and antivirus software to detect and prevent malicious activity; encrypting data to protect sensitive information; monitoring networks for suspicious activity; educating users on best practices for online security; and regularly updating systems with patches or new versions of software.

Job Prospects

The job prospects for cybersecurity experts are very strong, as the demand for their skills is growing rapidly. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 32% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Cybersecurity experts can work in a variety of industries, such as finance and healthcare, and in organizations ranging from small businesses to large corporations. There are also a number of certifications that can be earned in order to demonstrate expertise in various areas of cybersecurity.

Average Salary

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for information security analysts as of May 2020 was $99,730. This figure can vary depending on experience and geographic location. The highest-paid 10% of cybersecurity experts earned more than $157,870 in 2020.

According to Glassdoor.com, the Total Pay Estimate model calculates the current median salary of an Information Security Analyst in the Lagos area to be NGN 410,000 per month, with an average salary of NGN 210,000 each month. This number is determined by taking into account salaries reported by our users. There is also an additional estimated payment of NGN 200,000 monthly which could consist of bonuses, commissions, tips, and profit sharing.
