The Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 2025 is a fully-funded scholarship program sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). It is aimed at outstanding international students who wish to pursue undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, or research-level studies at Japanese universities. The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly living allowance, and round-trip airfare.
Who is eligible to apply for the MEXT Scholarship 2025?
Eligibility varies slightly by category, but in general, applicants must be nationals of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan, possess a strong academic record, and meet age and health requirements. For undergraduate scholarships, candidates must typically be under 25 years of age and have completed secondary education. For postgraduate levels, applicants should usually be under 35 years and have completed a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Applicants can apply through two main channels: Embassy Recommendation and University Recommendation.
