University of Edinburgh Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship for International Students

The University of Edinburgh is excited to announce the Nyerere Postgraduate Scholarship for the MSc in Africa and International Development starting in the 2024/2025 academic year. This scholarship is aimed at talented Tanzanian students who wish to follow in Nyerere’s footsteps and study at the University of Edinburgh with the generous support provided by a donor through the Centre of African Studies.

Scholarship Information

The Nyerere Trust sponsors this scholarship at the University of Edinburgh in the UK for international students. The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides an £18,622 stipend. Multiple awards are available for postgraduate students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be international postgraduate students who have achieved or are expected to achieve a first-class or 2.1 Honours degree in a Humanities or Social Science subject. Enrollment in a full-time postgraduate program is required, with the scholarship lasting for 3 years for full-time students or pro-rata for part-time students.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship includes coverage for tuition fees and an annual stipend, with the stipend amount adjusted yearly. For the 2024/2025 academic year, the stipend will be set at the UKRI level.
